What is a Affidavit?

An affidavit is a written, sworn statement that a person makes in front of a notary or court officer. The statement claims that the information in the document is true and correct to the best of the person’s knowledge. Affidavits are used in many court proceedings, including civil cases, criminal cases, family law, and bankruptcy matters.

Affidavits are only valid if they are: Prepared voluntarily, Not coerced, Signed in front of witnesses, and Notarized.
